• Many schools in Neihu base their syllabus on 1 or 2 textbooks, then stay with them for years and years, never changing, never updating, never improving.
• It is also very common for the schools to make parents buy large numbers of books, many of which are never fully used. This is just the school making money off the parents.
• England Academy (and Andrew's English School before it) believes that any responsible school should be regularly looking at not only what books are new, but also regularly reading the latest teaching methodology books.
• There is an amazing selection of high quality EFL books available in Taiwan, and we want our students to be using the very best.
• Students at England Academy will of course have regular text books. We will keep the number of books to a minimum (to keep the cost down for the parents, and the weight down for the students!), and make sure we use all of them.
• We will, however, be using many other books as well, but will issue individual pages as copies that the students will number and keep in a hard folder. We will then refer back to these, as and when needed.
